Effective Immediately:
We will be screening personnel who wish to enter for temperature with a no-contact thermometer. Personnel who do not pass screening protocols will not be permitted to enter and the primary contact of the affected organization will be notified. We have suspended all scheduled maintenance events to be rescheduled in the future. Engineering and 24/7 hands and eyes personnel remain on site and are here to support your needs.
Vendors and support will be brought in to assist with emergencies as needed. The function of critical infrastructure systems will not be compromised.
Our facilities will remain open to individuals who pass screening protocols at their site. We encourage you to utilize our remote hands services and limit travel to the absolutely necessary.

Fibertown is a critical business supporting several Essential Government and Essential industry customers. This is true for each Fibertown location. A prime example is the combined Emergency Operations Center offices for Texas A&M University, Brazos County and for the Cities of Bryan and College Station which are in the basement of the Fibertown Bryan data center. These Emergency Operations depend on the very personnel and infrastructure that support the data center. As a critical part of Emergency Operations for the State of Texas, Brazos County, Local Governments and many other customers in essential industries including healthcare, banking and energy we will remain in operation through any orders and mandates that may be issued.

On March 3, 2020 we started these protocols at our offices and data centers:

  • Common touch points such as doorknobs, finger scanners, badge scanner equipment, refrigerator handles, elevator controls, shared keyboards, door hardware, restrooms, copier equipment etc., disinfected twice per day by bacteria sanitizing wipes.
  • Conference rooms, break room tables, kitchen counter tops disinfected additionally with bacteria sanitizing wipes.
  • Stop shaking hands when greeting. A fist/elbow bump or a wave suffices for a handshake including visitors.
  • We asked all team members to
    • wipe down their desk, keyboard, cell phone and office phones with disinfecting wipes daily.
    • wash hands with soap and water and or use alcohol-based hand cleaner several times a day
    • wash hands with soap and water and or use alcohol-based hand cleaner before entering and after exiting any room or meeting

On March 10, 2020 we started the following procedures for personnel, visitors and guests to our offices and data center facilities. The message below was shared with customers via AlertMedia.

Last week we began protocols cleaning & disinfecting of high-traffic, high-touch areas daily with a focus on, but not limited to, visitor check-in areas, door handles, access card and bio-metric readers, bathrooms & shared conference and break-room environments.
Effective this week, all Fibertown locations will be implementing the following additional protocols:

Enhanced lobby screening protocols

All persons entering a Fibertown facility (i.e. staff, customers, visitors or vendors) will be verbally screened by Security in the lobby prior to being allowed access. If the verbal survey results in an affirmative risk response, the individual will be asked to not enter the site and the site team will advise the main point of contact for the customer or supplier. The screening questions will consist of confirmation of the following:

  1. Are you currently experiencing any flu-like symptoms (including fever, body aches/pain, sore throat, cough, or shortness of breath)?
  2. Have you been in contact with a confirmed Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) patient or someone who is under quarantine in the past 14 days?
  3. Have you visited any of the following countries in the past 14 days – including Mainland China, South Korea, Italy or Iran?

To ensure the safety of our staff, customers and visitors, Fibertown is reserving the right to deny entry to any individual answering YES to any of the questions above. We apologize in advance for any expected inconvenience or delays that may occur as a result of this screening process. We will continue to align our protocols based on the guidelines issued by regional governmental or public health agencies to mitigate disruption or risk to your critical operations.

FIBERTOWN offers 24/7 remote hands and eyes services to assist you at each location. We encourage you to take advantage of these services.

On March 13, 2020 we updated company policies related to attendance and added 40 hours paid sick leave benefit for personnel whose households are affected by COVID-19. We are asking team members to stay home if they are not well. We are calling on those team members who are healthy to be available and will be offering additional overtime hours as needed to continue our critical operations. Part time and after-hours personnel will be offered additional shifts as needed.

On March 16, 2020 we asked each team member to self-screen prior to leaving their home for work each day. Each team member will take their temperature and perform exercise activities. Anyone with a temperature of 100 F or greater or experiencing unusual shortness of breath after light exercise or other flu like symptoms will not report to work.

At Fibertown we take our critical role as a trusted partner very seriously. We practice dual site monitoring from the Network Operations Center at each site where we monitor and manage critical infrastructure of all locations. We have cross trained personnel at each location, so they are prepared to work alternatively at other sites providing customer support as needed. It is our commitment to remain the trusted partner that our customers have come to know over time. We are committed to your success.
