Breaking Ground…New 50,000 sq.ft. Houston Data Center (Week #1)

Last week, FIBERTOWN announced the groundbreaking of our new 50,000 sq.ft. data center in North Houston. We literally began breaking ground…and walls and ceilings and sidewalks…to build out our N+1 generator area.

Four 2MW generators will be housed in an atrium guarded by concrete walls. With customer installation expected to begin in early July 2011, this is the first step in building our modular-designed colocation data center.

A modular design allows us to deliver the most efficient data center options to enterprises requiring high availability colocation. Three utility rooms serving three pods will offer A-B power to customer equipment. The construction team cleared out the inside of the building in preparation for buildout of the pods.

This area will house three 10,000 sq.ft. pods, three utility rooms, a Network Operations Center, Point-of-Presence rooms, a conference room and sales/marketing offices.
